Q&A With The Fischers

May 19, 2020

Stunning fresh florals. Pops of pink. Beachy boho vibes. A perfect, August day.

We sat down with Annie and Jaysen Fischer to ask them 10 questions about their dreamy love story, tips on marriage, and all things related to the day they said “I Do”.

HOW DID YOU TWO MEET AND IS THERE A PROPOSAL STORY?

“We met at a Christmas party of a mutual friend in 2011. We were both too shy to even speak to each other! But after some social media flirting, we eventually started talking and went on dates. It’s history from there!

“Jaysen proposed in the most perfect place, our home! My two best friends we're hiding in the other room and got the whole thing on camera.

HOW DID YOU SELECT WHITNEY PEAK HOTEL AS YOUR WEDDING VENUE?

“We fell absolutely head over heels with the space. It was the perfect mix of updated elegance with industrial touches and urban vibes. We also knew we could count on the team. They were incredibly organized and could answer all of our questions without hesitations. (laughing) I like to call them “The A team” – Andy and Allie.”

WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR TO YOU WHEN CHOOSING A VENUE?

“We wanted a space that was easily accessible and where our guests could decide if they wanted to really party, they could then continue their partying safely! Being in the heart of downtown was a huge plus and having our wedding at The Whitney Peak embodied where we met, fell in love, and started a family together.” - ANNIE
“JAYSEN: The fact that Whitney Peak Hotel is dog-friendly was also a HUGE plus for us since our dogs were actually apart of the wedding and are a huge part of our lives!”

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF THE DAY?

“My favorite part was going down to the space prior to the guest arrival and seeing my dream wedding come together. Seeing all the hard work and feeling the stress melt away because we were finally there! It was such a quiet and peaceful moment. Everything looked better than I had ever imagined!”

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING IN 3 WORDS.

ANNIE: WHIMSICAL, PERFECT, DELICIOUS
JAYSEN: DOPE, DANK, POPPIN

DESCRIBE YOUR OVERALL EXPERIENCE WITH THE TEAM AT WHITNEY PEAK HOTEL.

“The team at Whitney Peak was truly amazing. They were incredibly accommodating and were able to make everything we requested plus EXTRA. My favorite experience was with Andy, Asst. Director of Sales. When it came down to walk down the aisle, I realized I forgot my BOUQUET. I literally was so ready to get the party started, I only remembered to bring my own body. So Andy ran up to our *complimentary* suite and grabbed my bouquet for me. He came running down and handed it to me in the nick of time. I will never forget that moment!”

JAYSEN: (laughing) “That’s an Annie move right there.”

WAS THE CULINARY EXPERIENCE TO YOUR SATISFACTION?

ANNIE: “Absolutely. I have one suggestion: GET THE RISSOTO. The food was absolutely amazing! The chef and his team prepared and executed flawlessly.
RACHEL: “I understand many bride and grooms don’t get much of a chance to eat during their wedding. How was that for you guys?”
JAYSEN: “That was EXACTLY the case with us as well! Funny you mention that, because at the end of the night the catering team asked us if we were still hungry since they noticed we didn't eat much and we said YES, starving! They told us not to worry, head up to our room and they will bring everything we need in about 15 min. Sure enough, 15 minutes later a large silver platter arrived at our door filled with tons and tons of the most delicious food from our buffet. We ate the food all night and into the next morning since there was so much on the platter!”

WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE AND EXPECTATIONS IN LINE WITH THE PRICE?

“Yes. Weddings are expensive, that’s just an obvious fact, but for the service we received and the overall experience, we would do it all over again.”
JAYSEN: "Completely agree."

WHAT ADVICE TO YOU HAVE FOR THOSE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING NOW?

ANNIE: “Don’t over stress and remember to have fun!”

JAYSEN: “Assist with all the small things your fiancé potentially needs help with! Annie loves to have control all of the big decisions, but if there was anything I could take off her plate I was happy to help! And yes, just have FUN!”

ANY ADVICE YOU'D GIVE TO ANOTHER COUPLE ABOUT MARRIAGE?

ANNIE: “Always be open with communication. Speak your truth, listen to your partner, and never lose sight of yourself.”

JAYSEN: “Communication and compromise. Grow as an individual and grow as a couple.”
ANNIE: “Exactly. We haven’t blended into one person. We will always remain true to ourselves. We’re much more than just the Fischers.”
